ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Leonie has completed a diploma of Visual arts and Media. Currently Leonie is studying visual arts and media at Monash University. Leonie is an installation artist, creating sculptural designs with the use of mixed media.

Through the process of creating my installations I philosophically contemplate what I want to convey. I take notes; draw sketches make enquiries, research books and reliable resources on the internet. I work on a metaphysical level exploring possibilities and experiment throughout the process until the desired effect is established. Initially my relationship with my art is deeply internal then it develops into a physical relationship. When I’ve reached the practical process of modeling, building and sculpting I try to always keep an open mind by utilizing any textile or material that best suits my concepts and installation. Often I return to photography to push personal goals and boundaries.

After many years of searching I found a deeply embedded passion within my being, a chalice I embrace for discovery, philosophy, imagination and perception. Through installation art I explore, distort, amplify, fantasize and create a visual language for an audience eager to ignite imagination.

My future direction is to extend my knowledge in the arts, ongoing practice, perfecting, discovering, investigating and exhibiting. Searching not for truth but for an array of options of what if, how, why, where, when and who.
